Transforming a Venue—and a Mission—Through Light and Story

Straw to Gold was honored to create a site-specific projection-mapped art installation for the 2025 OJMCHE Gala. Using two 40,000-lumen projectors to animate an 80+ foot wall, we transformed the venue into a living canvas—merging history, motion, and light in support of the museum’s mission. The immersive display helped set the tone for an unforgettable night—resulting in the largest fundraising increase in OJMCHE’s history. Proof that when art, technology, music and purpose align, incredible things happen.

Immersive brand spaces are reshaping the way organizations connect with audiences—from luxury retail to nonprofit fundraising. For the 2025 Oregon Jewish Museum and Center for Holocaust Education Gala, Straw to Gold created a projection-mapped installation that did more than decorate a room—it told a story.

We animated over 80 feet of wall space using two 40,000-lumen projectors, creating an emotional visual journey rooted in heritage, culture, and resilience. Every detail—from the timing of animated sequences to the integration of four live string musicians (courtesy of the BRAVO Youth Orchestras’ Ambassadors)—was crafted to support the museum’s mission and deepen the audience’s emotional connection.

This was a groundbreaking event for the Portland community. Guests described the installation as breathtaking and deeply moving, and the museum reported record fundraising numbers, media engagement, and guest satisfaction.

We brought an A-level production team to manage all technical aspects of the experience, including truss and power support, spatial design, content mapping, and real-time art direction. The custom animation was built in TouchDesigner, a powerful platform that enabled us to merge visual storytelling with interactive design capabilities.

Take a behind-the-scenes look at the meticulous planning and technical precision that went into bringing this unforgettable evening to life:

Every element—from visuals to sound—was guided by a single goal: to turn the space into an experience that would be felt, remembered, and acted upon. This is the power of immersive design: it builds empathy, unlocks generosity, and elevates storytelling beyond the screen.

Key takeaway

Thoughtfully designed environments don’t just enhance events—they drive outcomes. When light, sound, and story come together with purpose, they create unforgettable moments that leave a measurable impact.

When brands create immersive experiences rooted in story, they move hearts—and move people to act.
